Ground moisture barriers aren’t just a box-tick for Healthy Homes compliance, they’re one of the most cost-effective ways to create a drier, healthier home. A GMB stops moisture from rising through the soil and creeping into your subfloor and living spaces. Even “dry” soil constantly releases moisture vapour, which can build up under your house and lead to dampness, mould, and heat loss. We’ve installed close to 1,000 GMBs in the past two years alone, so you’re in good hands. Our installs are clean, compliant, and built to last - all sharply priced.
A GMB is required if the subfloor space is enclosed, i.e. airflow is obstructed along 50% or more of the perimeter of the space. Many properties have subfloor perimeter cladding like baseboards. Should the gap between baseboards be greater than 20mm, the cavity is considered sufficiently ventilated and won’t require a ground moisture barrier.
We install ground moisture barriers to NZS4246:2016 standards, and use high quality 250um polythene rolls, galvanised ground staples and PVC tape.
Ideally belongings and rubbish to be removed before install. That said, our unit rate includes a complimentary provision to shift & repile belongings, rubbish & debris. Anything signficant may incur a (reasonable) labour surcharge.
No problem for us, we’ve seen it all. We always ensure 100% functionality but please note difficult terrain will affect asethetics.
